Class of 2026 Seniors, apply for Students of Distinction before March 20th! 

 

Students of Distinction is a 23 year community legacy that provides scholarships to nominated graduating Peninsula School District seniors, and honors them for their achievements in a variety of categories. 

 

Students from Gig Harbor, Peninsula or Henderson Bay high schools may apply for the honor, or can be nominated by a parent, teacher, peer or community member. There are seven areas of excellence as outlined below.

 

Timeline:

  • Applications Close: March 20th, 2026 @ 5 PM PST
  • Final Nominees Notified: By April 10th, 2026
  • Panel Interview (required to be considered for scholarship receipt): April 25th, 2026 @ Henderson Bay High School
  • Award Dinner (Panelist Choice Winners will be announced): May 20th, 2026 @ Ocean5
     

Achievement Categories:

Complete a form for each category you would like to apply for. If you apply/nominate a student for multiple categories, their final nomination will only be in the category in which the selection committee believes is best suited to the student.

  •  Athletic Achievement
  •  Career and Technical Excellence
  •  Community Service Achievement 
  •  Music, Arts, and Drama Achievement 
  •  Overcoming Adversity Achievement 
  •  Science and Technology Achievement
     

Commitment:

Panel interviews are required for final nominees. It is also requested that scholarship nominees attend the Award Dinner on May 20th. Final scholarship nominees will receive a complimentary ticket to the Award Dinner.

 

Consideration Process:

  1. Nominations are submitted via Google Forms.
  2. High school scholarship committees review nominations and narrow them down to final nominees.
  3. Schools forward final nominees to the Greater Gig Harbor Foundation (GGHF).
  4. GGHF schedules an in-school congratulatory meeting.
  5. Final nominees schedule interview time slots.
  6. Panelists conduct interviews with the final nominees.
  7. Panelists select "Panelist Choice Winners" based on interviews.
  8. All final nominees are honored and Panelist Choice Winners are announced at the May awards dinner
