Welcome Back, Seahawks!
We welcome you to the 2021-22 school year at Peninsula High School. We have all experienced a year that included many transitions—fully remote to hybrid, partial athletic schedules and flipped-flopped seasons, and schedules that were redesigned a number of times through the year.
This year promises to be somewhat stable as we begin to return to PHS. We are anticipating that school will start with all students who have elected face-to-face instruction in a traditional manner. Students and staff will need to wear masks while here, and there will be three-foot distancing in classrooms. Lunches will look a little different this year, with a six-foot requirement in place. We will continue to encourage students to stay home if sick, wash hands frequently and abide by all safety procedures. Our goal is to begin and end with a safe and productive school environment.
Peninsula is a school where most students participate beyond the classroom. We want to encourage every student to get involved in a club or an activity or a sport. Many of our sports are non-cut, meaning that everyone who tries out has a place to compete and belong. For us, this is important: we want every student to engage and thrive academically, socially, artistically, and athletically in our school environment. At PHS, there is something for everyone.
Important dates and information about the start of school will be forthcoming. Please look for our newsletter, Hawk Talk, that is distributed every two weeks. This comes to families electronically, so if you are not receiving our newsletter, please check your email and contact information in PowerSchool. The information contained in the Hawk Talk can be of considerable assistance to families through the school year.
We are here to serve our community and to help our students succeed. If you need assistance, or if we can answer a question, please contact us or stop in to school if you are in the area.
