1. Seattle Pacific University will be in the Future Readiness Center today at 12:00. Please check in with your teachers before attending to make sure you are not needed in class.
2. AVID Club would like to announce our November AVID Teacher of the Month. It is Mr Pinneo!  Here is what we'd like to say about him:  Mr Pinneo uses AVID strategies such as marking the text, reciprocal teaching, and annotating our reading. He allows us to collaborate and focuses on teamwork and that helps us to be better students and prepares us for our future as we develop these skills. In class discussions, he also uses inquiry to research deeper than surface level in our text and helps us seek deeper understanding and symbolism of what we are reading. Keep making us PHS Proud, Mr Pinneo!
3. Join Mr. Kendall and Ms. Hutcheson in Vietnam! Learn about this exciting 2027 summer trip at an informational Zoom meeting on today at 6 PM. RSVP by scanning one of the QR codes posted around the school.
4. Are you an out of season athlete looking to get faster? "Speed Club" is a FREE after school training group designed to help athletes improve their speed in preparation for upcoming sports seasons. Sessions will be Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 2:20 - 4 pm starting Dec. 1st. We will meet each day at the PHS track unless otherwise noted. For more information talk to Mr. Hall in Room W3. 
5. Hey Seahawks! We have a gift drive coming up to help those in need in our community. Please donate your gifts to the ASB Window before school from December 1st to the 5th.Our focus is on teens, but any donations of unwrapped gifts for children age 1 - 17 are accepted. Let's come together to give our community gifts this holiday season!
6. Attention all students interested in joining Key Club as official members this year (in order to be able to document official service hours and claim membership on resumes, applications, and scholarships): Today is the final day to stop by the Bookkeeper window to arrange payment for your Key Club membership for this year - please do so by the end of the day - see Mr. Pinneo before school Friday or Monday in room 204 for help and questions.
7. Hey Seniors - this one’s for you!  AVID Club is hosting a Scholarship Notebook Workshop. Come get help with your Scholarship Notebook pages - Personal Data Sheet, Personal Statement, picture pages, how to ask for a letter of rec and more! Scholarship Notebook turn in day is right after Winter Break - wouldn’t you like to have it all done before break so that you can rest easy? Mark your calendar for Thurs, Dec 4th at 2:15pm in room 515 so you don’t miss out! Snacks will also be provided.
8. Native American Fact –  With Thanksgiving coming up, we look at the Coast Salish Potlatch. What is a Potlatch? A potlatch is a gathering held for various occasions, such as births, deaths, adoptions, weddings and other significant events. During many potlatches, property and gifts were distributed, and these events were typically practiced in the winter.
