This is the beginning science course at PHS. It is a lab and activity-based exploration of the major concepts in the study of matter and energy, chemical bonding, force, energy types, astronomy, Earth science, wave theory, and the scientific method. Technology will be used for acquisition of data, information gathering and for presentations. National and State standards for student learning will be emphasized. Technical reading and career opportunities will be integrated into the academic material. An "Honors Global Science" designation will be available for students who select into a program with additional requirements. That will be done in October. A TI-84 calculator is recommended for data processing and acquisition. Honors Global Science credit may be earned by those students who would like a very challenging experience. Students who select the Honors Global Science credit will be expected to meet higher standards in the material being covered, perform additional assignments, and complete experimental research projects. |
