The AP Physics course is a year-long college introductory physics course for self-directed students. AP topics include mechanics, wave phenomena (sound and light), electricity, magnetism and nuclear physics. The course uses a college level textbook and lab work. The main goal of AP Physics is to help students gain an appreciation of science as a process. Due to the intense mathematical nature of the class, it is strongly recommended that students have a solid math background. This is a beginning college level course taught to meet the requirements of taking the College Board Exam in May 2008. It is designed to master the fundamental concepts of physics to a level to be successful on the exam. Forces, Motion, Energy, Fluids, Electricity, and Waves (Light, Sound). Students will be expected to put in extra study time and are responsible for independently learning many topics. The course is for those who are interested in pursuing a career in science, technology or engineering. |
