Peninsula High School boasts one of the largest high school scholarship programs in the state, the Peninsula Hawks Scholarship Fund. It provides nearly $200,000 per year in awards to graduates of our school. The awards can be used for any type of post-secondary education, from short training programs to full-fledged university, and for any type of major whether vocational or academic.
Students apply by completing a scholarship portfolio during their senior year. In it they provide information about their accomplishments during their high school years and their future plans. This portfolio serves as the application for a large number of awards, given mostly by local donor families, businesses and organizations.

The Peninsula Hawks Scholarship Fund owns and operates the SAVE Thrift Store located below Peninsula High School. A full-time business in operation for over 22 years, the thrift store alone accounts for nearly $40,000 in awards each year. PHS activity groups can earn scholarship money and incidental funds for themselves by volunteering at the thrift store.
The scholarship program is run by a committee of present and past PHS parents which meets the second Wednesday of each month that school is in session. The meetings start at 9 a.m. in the main office conference room at Peninsula High and last about an hour and a half.
The committee urges you to
- become a member of the Scholarship Committee to keep this program running strong
- encourage your students to plan to participate in the program. Even if they are underclassmen, they need to be saving their certificates of participation, photos of activities, pictures of artwork, and other mementoes of their high school activities
- support the SAVE Thrift Store through your quality donations, as a shopper and as a volunteer. The phone number of the store is 857-2800.
- fund a scholarship on behalf of your family, business, organization or departed loved one. All donations are tax-deductible.
