The English Department at Peninsula High School is proud to announce their latest endeavor to encourage lifelong reading – Peninsula Reads! 2008 will be a variety of book clubs hosted by Peninsula High School staff members. A number of staff members have chosen books they are interested in reading over the summer; students have the opportunity to choose which book they would like to read and share in a group discussion either via internet, or in the setting of a local book store or coffee shop. The variety is as varied as staff members leading groups. If students don’t see a title of a book they are interested in reading, they can ask a staff member to be the facilitator and make their own group. Our goal is to see students and staff alike engage in interesting conversations about topics they have in common, building on our mission statement of: “Continuous learning through rigor, relevance and relationships.” Join us!  View Book Clubs

In order to join the club go to www.goodreads.com and sign on – it’s free. Then go to groups and type in Peninsula Reads and search. It should take you to the section that has the reading groups that are meeting through the website. There are currently about 21 groups. These on-line groups might be meeting face to face at some point. That will be up to the group members.
